United September Weekend Tournament 2011
The 2011 United September weekend attracted its
largest ever entry with 16 players in the Open and 10 in the Handicap.
We were also fortunate enough to obtain sponsorship from Ryman Healthcare
which was much appreciated. The weather was lovely on Saturday and
despite being very cold on Sunday morning, the sun eventually came
out to make a pleasant end to the event.
The lawns were very much in early season speed, running at around
10 Plummers.
The winner of the handicap section was Bruce McLay on 5/5 with Jono
Hart runner-up only losing 22-23 to Bruce.
The open was run as a flexible swiss and attracted players from
far and wide. The standard of play was very mixed, but Greg Bryant
emerged victorious on 6/7. The prize for the best 0+ handicapper
went to Geoff Duckett who gained 42 handicap points.
