We would like as many outdoor sports and recreation facilities as possible to be available for use this summer but, to align with the restrictions now in place, we need your support.
As a key member of our sports and recreation community, we ask you to please water your sports grounds intermittently at night between 10 pm and 6 am, and reduce your normal watering cycle time by 10 per cent.

23 August The world of croquet was saddened to learn of the death of Charles Jones while on holiday in Thailand. Charles had been a player since the 1970's and began his career in Westport (his home town) and Christchurch. He was elected as President of the N Z Croquet Council for a 4-year term from 1993, was a superb manager of New Zealand MacRob and Trans-Tasman teams and at the time of his death was President of the World Croquet Federation. He brought a lively and sometimes wicked sense of humour to the game and was known for both his forthright views and tireless work for the game at all levels. He was a Justice of the Peace and was awarded the Queens Service Medal in 2000 for public service. He will be missed.
